According to an article on Gizmodo, an iPhone owner sent an email and asking Steve Jobs whether the iPad support tethering through an iPhone or not. Steve Jobs replied a single word answer “No.”

OK, Steve Jobs answers No, and I really want to make it Yes after playing my iPad for 1 week. Today I tried to google this solution and here is the solution that I found out.

First, the iPhone should be jail-broken, and you need to install a US$9.99 software called MyWi, I think you can found it under Cydia from your Jail-boken iPhone 3G or 3GS.

After installed the MyWi, you need to do some little configurations, such as the Wifi Name, Channel, WEP Security and WEP Key.

After setting applied, you can toggle the Wifi Tethering to ON. MyWi will try to Start the Wifi Tethering.

After the Wifi Tethering successfully started, you will see Internet Tethering message shown under the iPhone status bar.

Even you close the application, Internet Tethering will still remain running

And even in Lock screen, you also can see Internet Tethering is running.

Ok, let’s move to iPad and see how to setup the Wifi Connection

Because MyWi turns your iPhone to a Wifi Hotspot, and you will be able to found this Wifi Network from Wi-Fi Networks setting.

Choose your Wifi Network shared by iPhone and Input the your WEP passkey

Connected

And now, i can surfing internet by iPad on MTR, Mini-bus or places without a accessible Hotspot!

and i can read the feeds from Feeddler for iPad, too…

I think the only drawback is… MyWi eats a lot of Battery and the battery is easy ran out after running MyWi. Use it or not, please make your own decision.
